Wetroom InstallersAt The Bathroom Workshop, we have trained and established specialist in-house teams of expert designers and fitters who will guide you through creating a luxury walk in shower / wet room, endeavouring to make the best use of whatever space you have available. We have created our own cutting edge and unique method of protecting or ‘tanking’ your walk in shower/ wet room installation from any leaks through the use of fibreglass resin and Ardex WPC waterproof Pro tanking system, which can you read about in more detail in our post. We are so confident in our system and of the ability of our bathroom fitters that we guarantee all our wet room and walk in shower installations from any leaks for 3 years, (subject to terms and conditions).

Both wet room and walk-in shower installations have become more and more popular within the last 15 years, with homeowners keen to add value and comfort to their property by incrementing a sense of luxury to their newly renovated bathrooms, often removing existing bathtubs and dated shower cubicles which can cramp bathrooms to install spacious contemporary walk in showers, or through the addition of wet rooms in smaller previously unused areas of the home.

What are the differences between a Walk-in shower and a Wet room?

The difference between a walk in shower and a wet room lies in the use of a shower tray or tiles, and the level of sealing necessary to completely protect a wet room from any leaks which can cause serious damage to the walls and ceilings of your home.

Wetroom IstallersIn order to fully protect your wet room, a process called ‘tanking’ (see above) and will also be tiled to prevent any water seeping into any other parts of the house. Essentially we create a completely waterproof box which may or may not take a shower screen, in the majority of cases wet rooms are created within smaller areas of the house which will mean that a screen would only cramp the area further.

Walk-in showers on the other hand will almost always employ the use of a screen and a tray, and may only take tiles up to about 20cm above the fixed shower head.

Unlike other companies, The Bathroom Workshop endeavours to create the same level of watertight protection in both our walk-in showers installations and wet room installations.
