At The Bathroom Workshop, we know that taking care of your bathroom and keeping it clean can be a bit of a hassle. Understanding how to clean bathrooms and how to make sure that they look their best will not only ensure that the space is pristine and free from germs and bacteria, but also ensure that it improves the appearance and function of a home.
Get Rid of Mould
Mould in the bathroom can be a huge issue, which is why you want to tackle it as soon as you see it and be sure you remove it all. Using an old toothbrush that has been dipped in 1:4 bleach and water to scrub is a great way to remove mould.
Ditch the Limescale
Limescale can easily build up around taps, but it’s easy to soak off without scrubbing. By soaking a towel in white vinegar and then carefully wrapping it around the tap, the vinegar can do the work for you. Simply rinse off the extra vinegar with soapy water after 12 hours.
Clean Mirrors and Taps
Mirrors take the brunt of hairspray every morning, which means that they can experience a lot of buildup. The best way to get rid of this is by using some surgical spirit. Adding some to a soft cloth and gently rubbing the mirror will take care of the hairspray residue. Taps can be cleaned with baking soda and lemon juice.
Freshen up Shower Heads
Hard water can cause scale to build up on showerheads, requiring regular cleaning. Soaking them in 1:1 white vinegar and water overnight will take care of the problem. In the morning it’s easy to rinse the shower heads and enjoy clean heads free from scale.
Freshen the Toilet Seat
Stains in the toilet bowl are stubborn, but a pumice stone will tackle them. Using a wet stone, carefully rub it around the bowl until the stain has been removed. Never try this trick on plastic or enamel fittings, as it can easily ruin them. Regular cleaning is the best way to handle stains, instead of allowing them to build up over time.
Improve Sink Flow
Blocked sinks are a huge problem in bathrooms. Pouring half a cup of vinegar with half a box of baking soda down the drain will do the trick. Block the drain until the fizzing stops, then follow with boiling water to clear the block.
Clean the Toothbrushes
Dirty toothbrushes are an issue in any bathroom. Soaking them in white vinegar for half an hour will kill bacteria and clean the toothbrush. We recommend that this should be done every other week for best results.
Keeping a bathroom and any wet rooms in the house clean is important. At The Bathroom Workshop we believe in helping our clients not only plan their space, thanks to our professional shower-room designers, but also know how to keep them clean. This ensures that any space will meet the needs of the family and will provide a safe place to shower and get ready in the morning for years to come.
